Bio

Teva Johnstone is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Ventura OCD Therapy, where she sees clients in person at her office in Ventura and by telehealth across California. She specializes in the OCD spectrum, including obsessive-compulsive personality traits such as perfectionism, workaholism, and burnout, along with anxiety and specific phobias. Her practice is focused on helping people break free from anxiety-driven rituals and avoidance.

Many of the people Teva works with are high-achieving professionals, parents of children with OCD, and perinatal mothers experiencing intrusive thoughts, and she sees many clients from the tech, healthcare, and creative industries. She treats a wide range of OCD themes — compulsive rumination or “Pure O,” perinatal and postpartum OCD, clinical perfectionism, contamination, religious and moral scrupulosity, relationship OCD, and harm OCD among them — and works sensitively with taboo themes that can feel difficult to say out loud.

I help people develop greater self-awareness and courage so they can live a life that feels grounded, meaningful, and authentic.

Teva offers a holistic approach to Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a highly effective form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, integrating helpful aspects of Schema Therapy and emotion regulation skills. She describes her style as exploratory and reflective, and believes healing is best supported within a framework that prioritizes the health of the whole person and their sense of meaning and purpose. She has specialized training, supervision, and consultation in ERP for anxiety disorders and OCD, and receives ongoing case consultation in the treatment of OCD and related disorders. When the client is a child with OCD or anxiety, her work is parent-based and family-centered.

Teva earned her Master of Social Work from Azusa Pacific University and her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She has been licensed to practice independently since 2021, the same year she opened her practice, and is a member of the International OCD Foundation and The OCPD Foundation. Sessions are offered on weekday mornings and during the day, and a free 15-minute consultation is available.
