Taylor McCarthy is a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Steep the Tea Therapy, a virtual practice specializing in eating disorders and body image. Her work is rooted in the belief that meaningful change, like a good cup of tea, takes time — and she offers a warm, intentional space built on thoughtful conversation, deep listening, and moments of quiet insight.
Taylor has worked across every level of care — inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient — with specialized training in eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, and other specified eating disorders. Alongside body image and eating-disorder recovery, she supports teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, and self-harm, and she welcomes LGBTQ+ clients.
"I incorporate humor and honesty in my sessions, as well as evidence-based modalities. I am passionate about helping those on their road to recovery and healing."
In her work, Taylor draws on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), and narrative therapy, tailoring her approach to each client. She values coordinating with dietitians, primary care providers, and other professionals to build a strong, supportive treatment team around recovery.
Taylor earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Jacksonville University and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Colorado Technical University. She sees clients virtually throughout Arizona and offers a tiered sliding scale so that cost is less of a barrier to beginning care.
