Kayla Martinez is a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing at Mind & Soul Counseling Services in Mesa, seeing teens and adults in person and by telehealth across Arizona. Her work centers on trauma, anxiety, and perfectionism — and on the people-pleasing, self-doubt, and difficulty holding boundaries that so often travel alongside them.
She works from a trauma-informed, relational frame. Rather than treating a symptom as the whole story, she helps clients understand where a pattern started, process the experiences underneath it, and build steadier self-trust and emotional safety. Alongside anxiety and perfectionism she works with depression, trauma, and the relationship and family-of-origin dynamics that shape how people relate to themselves and to everyone else.
I see my role not as an authority but as a guide, helping you reconnect with your own wisdom and resilience.
Kayla is trained in EMDR and Internal Family Systems, is certified in DBT, and holds a certification through the Arizona Trauma Institute. In session she draws on those approaches along with attachment-based, client-centered, and relational work, matched to what a particular client needs rather than applied from a fixed protocol. Her style is exploratory and reflective, and her practice is LGBTQ+ affirming.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Arizona State University and a Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University, and has been in practice for six years. She is accepting new clients and offers a free 15-minute consultation.
