Joanna Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Arizona practicing at Love Life Therapy Center in Tucson, offering trauma-informed, relationship-centered psychotherapy to teens and adults by telehealth across the state. Her practice is an affirming, sex-positive home for LGBTQIA+ clients and people in diverse relationship structures — including ethical non-monogamy and polyamory — as well as sex workers and anyone exploring identity, intimacy, and sexuality.
She works at the intersection of trauma, attachment, and the body, helping clients move through the life transitions, relationship concerns, and old survival patterns that keep them from feeling fully like themselves.
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing happens through relationship — in a space where you feel genuinely seen, accepted, and safe.
Joanna integrates EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, somatic therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), pairing bottom-up, body-based work with a holistic view of the whole person. Her clinical training is grounded in more than a decade in wellness — as a yoga and meditation teacher and in sound healing, breathwork, and pranayama — which continues to shape her attention to the nervous system and the felt sense of safety.
She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Prescott College, with an emphasis in trauma and somatic psychology, along with a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Arizona State University. Her certifications include Integrative EMDR, IFS, Somatic Trauma Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Mindfulness, and a BIPOC Mental Health specialization.
