Bio

Grayson Wallen is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Arizona, and a Certified Gottman Therapist. He sees couples and individuals in person from his Encinitas office and by telehealth across California and Arizona, with a practice built around helping partners move from conflict and disconnection back toward friendship, trust, and repair.

Grayson's specialty is couples work grounded in the Gottman Method — an approach drawn from decades of research on what actually helps relationships last. He has completed the full Gottman clinical training sequence and works with the patterns that quietly erode connection: escalating conflict, emotional distance, and the aftermath of betrayal.

The research is clear about what helps relationships thrive — and what pulls them apart. My work is helping you put that into practice, together.

Alongside the Gottman Method, Grayson is trained in intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (IS-TDP), an emotion-focused, experiential approach that helps clients move past the defenses and anxiety that keep painful feelings at arm's length. He pairs this analytic case conceptualization with structured Gottman couples work, and his style is direct and challenging while staying grounded and supportive.

His practice gives particular attention to perinatal relationship adjustments, infertility, grief and loss, and affair recovery, and he offers an affirming space for LGBTQ+ clients — work he is deepening as he completes his Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C). Grayson holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Phoenix Seminary and a Bachelor of Science from Grand Canyon University.
