Feryn Heath is a licensed professional counselor and the founder of Northwood Therapy, seeing Arizona clients by telehealth. She is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and a Certified Multiple Addictions Therapist – Chemical Dependence (CMAT-CD) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP), and her focus is helping people step into recovery from compulsive sexual behavior and pornography use. She also works with substance use, codependency, and eating disorders, and with the trauma, anxiety, and depression that so often travel alongside addiction.
For sex and pornography addiction, she uses Dr. Patrick Carnes’ task-based model as the structure for recovery, tailored to each person: building behavioral stability and accountability, mapping triggers and the cycle of acting out, strengthening emotional regulation and coping skills, setting healthy boundaries, and addressing the shame and relational patterns underneath. She also works with couples and partners affected by addictive or compulsive behavior — disrupted trust, disclosure, boundaries, and rebuilding intimacy — making room for both people’s experience while keeping accountability clear.
Seeking therapy should not require you to have everything figured out first.
Her approach is primarily person-centered: a collaborative relationship grounded in safety, trust, respect, and accountability, where clients can be authentic and vulnerable without judgment. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to work on the thinking and behavior patterns that feed compulsive cycles, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and impulse control, and EMDR, and she takes a whole-person view — looking past the presenting behavior to the history, beliefs, and relationships that shape it. She works with young adults and adults.
A native Arizonan, Feryn earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Her earlier roles include primary therapist for Gentle Path at The Meadows, assistant clinical director at Rosewood Tempe, and clinical supervisor for the Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations. She is licensed in Arizona as a Licensed Professional Counselor and in Washington as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and is also licensed in Colorado. Outside the therapy room she is a wife, a mother, and an award-winning children’s book author. Sessions are private pay at $175, with a sliding scale available and superbills provided for out-of-network reimbursement, and a free 15-minute consultation comes first.
