Cynthia Aguilar is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) at Nueve Lunas Therapy & Wellness, seeing teens, young adults, and neurodivergent adults by telehealth across California. A first-generation queer Latina, she brings cultural humility and a calm, grounded presence to work with anxiety, depression, grief, identity exploration, relationship patterns, and the intergenerational wounds many first-generation clients carry.
Much of Cynthia's work centers on neurodivergence — including ADHD and autism — and on the experience of first-generation Latinas navigating life without a roadmap. She creates inclusive, affirming space for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC clients, and offers sessions in both English and Spanish.
My approach is relational and mindfulness-based, rooted in helping you reconnect with your inner wisdom so you can create meaningful, empowered change.
Cynthia draws on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, play therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), tailoring her approach to each client's age, culture, and goals. She shows up with compassion and cultural humility as clients process what they've been carrying — making room for identity, family history, and the pressures of growing up between cultures.
Cynthia holds a Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Los Angeles, where she also earned a bachelor's degree in Urban Learning with a minor in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She practices under the clinical supervision of Elsa Matsumoto, LCSW.
