Claira Dresher is a Licensed Associate Counselor who specializes in complex, childhood, and generational trauma and the intergenerational patterns that carry them forward. She works with high-achieving professionals, caregivers, and individuals from multicultural and AAPI backgrounds who appear strong on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or alone on the inside. Her stated focus areas also include couples navigating life transitions, unprocessed childhood trauma, relationship trauma, religious or faith-related wounds, guilt, shame, and anxiety.
She describes many of the people she works with as capable, responsible, and deeply caring individuals who have spent years holding everything together on their own — and says therapy with her is not just about coping or getting through the day.
I believe healing begins when we stop asking, “What's wrong with me?” and instead create space to understand what we've lived through, how it shaped us, and what we truly need now.
Her work is shaped by both Western psychology and Eastern wisdom. She is a Christian who also finds meaning and helpful applications in the teachings of Buddhism and other traditions, and holds space for clients to explore faith, spirituality, culture, and identity in ways that feel authentic to them. She is trained in EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, grief counseling, and family systems and Internal Family Systems–informed approaches.
An immigrant, a mother, and a former executive leader, she came to this work through many chapters of life — loss, trauma, grief, cultural transition, career shifts, and roles that required her to grow up early and be the strong one. Clients describe her as warm, calm, empathetic, nonjudgmental, patient, and deeply attuned.
