Christopher Carman is a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Resonate Sedona, a practice built around the idea that psychotherapy works best when it engages the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. He integrates traditional talk therapy with somatic techniques, mindfulness, and Eastern philosophy, and he is a Certified Nature Informed Therapist who brings the landscape itself into the work through walk-and-talk sessions in West Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek.
From 2008 to 2019 Christopher worked in community mental health — first in psychiatric crisis services, then on an ACT team. Those eleven years left him with a deep, practical grounding in trauma and in addiction, and in what it actually takes to help someone stabilize when things are at their hardest.
His practice also draws creatives, spiritually oriented and New Age clients, and people in the middle of a significant life transition — work where the presenting problem is often less about symptoms than about meaning, direction, and what a person wants their life to hold. He works with teens, adults, and older adults, and sees Arizona clients both in person in Sedona and virtually statewide.
Christopher describes his therapeutic style as warm, empathetic, interactive, and lively.
With couples, Christopher draws on the Gottman Method, and he welcomes non-traditional relationships — including ethically non-monogamous, polyamorous, and kink and BDSM-practicing clients — without asking them to explain or defend how they structure their lives. Alongside relationship work, he supports clients through trauma, grief, and the existential questions that tend to surface in periods of change.
His clinical toolkit centers on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, and somatic techniques, with an existential thread running through it: helping clients sort what is genuinely within their control from what is not, and building a workable relationship with both.
Christopher earned a B.S. in Psychology from Towson University in 2004 and an M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University in 2007. He is licensed as an LPC in Arizona and as an LCPC in Maryland, where he also founded and operates Resonate Counseling Services, a group practice in Towson.

Christopher is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. He will also be in network with Medicaid beginning September 1, 2026. For plans he is not paneled with, he remains an out-of-network provider and offers billing options for clients with a PPO plan through Mentaya, a payment processor that works directly with your health insurance to substantially reduce the private-pay fees listed above — with Mentaya you do not have to pay the full cost of the session up front, submit your own claims, and then wait for a reimbursement check in the mail. If you would rather submit your own claims, he is happy to provide a superbill instead. Cash, checks, and all major credit cards — Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express — are accepted.
