Alyssa Martinez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing at Higher Way Integrative Therapy, working by telehealth across Arizona with young adults, adults, and older adults. Her specialties are trauma and PTSD and spirituality, and the way she describes her own practice starts with the room rather than the technique: a safe, judgment-free space where someone can explore what they are actually struggling with, built out of honesty and vulnerability. She works with individuals and couples on spiritual and self-esteem struggles, on breaking unhealthy patterns, on improving relationships, and on developing healthy ways to cope with pain from the past, the present, and whatever is still coming.
Her approach is deliberately integrative. She draws on trauma-informed perspectives, psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and mindfulness-based practices, selecting among them rather than running one protocol for everyone. In her own framing, the work happens through guided self-exploration — staying grounded in the present moment, reconnecting with the body, shifting limiting beliefs, and arriving at a fresh perspective that lines up with a person’s deepest goals and values. Her stated goal is to meet a client exactly where they are without judgment, support them in identifying the root of the trouble while holding them accountable where that is needed, make meaning of their experiences, and help them find the inner strength and wisdom that resilience is built from.
I am dedicated to creating a safe, judgment-free space where you can explore your deepest struggles and discover higher ways of thinking and being.
Faith is available in her sessions and never imposed. For clients who are open to a biblical perspective, she says she loves to weave it into the work, because in her experience it meets a deeper spiritual need and leads to lasting peace and transformation; for clients who are not, the rest of the approach stands on its own. Her practice page closes on Isaiah 55:9 — “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Alongside trauma and spirituality she works with abuse and narcissistic abuse, anxiety, depression, and the relationship patterns that tend to sit underneath all of them. Her practice offers individual therapy, couples therapy focused on communication, unhealthy relationship patterns, rebuilding trust, and deeper emotional connection, and group therapy that combines mindfulness-based interventions with cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches around building community and intimacy with others.
