Alyssa Horman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in San Diego, seeing young adults and adults by telehealth across California. Her practice centers on life transitions and couples work — the seasons where a relationship, an identity, or a whole life is being renegotiated at once.
She works with individuals and couples who are struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. In her own framing, meaningful change happens when we can make sense of our experiences and compassionately explore the patterns shaping our lives — so the work is as much about understanding an old pattern as it is about breaking it.

Her approach is grounded in narrative therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, and she integrates the Gottman Method, ACT, and attachment-based work to fit each client. With couples she works on communication, disconnection, and the trust repair that follows a rupture, and she offers premarital therapy for engaged couples. Alongside that relational work she supports clients through anxiety, depression, and relational challenges, combining insight with practical tools.

She is Gottman Method Level 2 trained, has two to five years of clinical experience, and is currently accepting new clients. She offers a free 15-minute consultation, is in-network with Aetna, Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, and Carelon through Headway, and reserves a limited number of reduced-fee appointments based on financial need.
She earned a master's degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University and a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies — psychology, biology, and women's studies — from San Diego State University. Her clinical background spans community mental health, nonprofit organizations, schools, and private practice, and she is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California.

Alyssa is in-network with Aetna, Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, and Carelon through Headway, and also welcomes private-pay clients. She notes that couples therapy may not be covered by insurance. For plans she is not contracted with, a superbill can be provided to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
