Richard Berg is a Licensed Master Social Worker with over 15 years of experience working with children, youth, and families across crisis, residential, and community mental health settings. He specializes in LGBTQ+ affirming care — including affirming care letters and queer couples therapy — and has deep expertise in foster care and adoption support. Richard works with ages 11 and up.
His approach is collaborative and strengths-based: he works alongside clients to identify their unique goals, barriers, and strengths, then builds a personalized treatment plan that supports meaningful, lasting change. He is a fully affirming provider for LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families at every stage of their journey.
"Every person deserves a space where they can be fully themselves — and the tools to build the life they're working toward."
Richard draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Family Systems, Humanistic, Trauma-Focused, and Person-Centered approaches. He is available for in-person sessions in Mesa as well as telehealth throughout Arizona.
Evening and midday availability makes Richard accessible to clients with daytime commitments. Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5–9 PM) are available in-office or via telehealth; weekday lunch appointments (Monday–Friday at 12 PM) are available via telehealth only.
