Hi, I'm Rachelle Bloksberg, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I've always been a people person — I love spending one-on-one time with someone new, getting to know them, and sharing our thoughts together. This naturally led me to becoming a therapist.
I am licensed in California, Nevada, and Florida. I live in Nevada County, in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California, and provide online therapy throughout California.
I went back to school to earn my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology after both my children were grown and out in the world. Before that, I was a Neurofeedback Therapist offering coaching since 2009. My husband and I have been married since 1984, raised two amazing children together, and started and run several businesses.
"It is important to me to provide counseling with real-life understanding rather than depend solely on theory. Life is real, so therapy should be too."
I have lots of life experience that gives me a foundation for psychotherapy and coaching. I've lived through the trauma and grief of losing my mother to suicide at fifteen, and have lost two more family members to suicide since then. I've experienced a debilitating brain injury and had to work to get my life back. I was later diagnosed with several chronic illnesses — including Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS), and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).
My clients often comment that counseling with real-life understanding is extremely helpful to them. They don't need to go into detail about their chronic pain unless they want to — I live with it too. I understand what it's like.
I am neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC affirmative. I have a neurodiverse ADHD brain and understand the benefits and challenges of being neurodiverse. I love coming up with creative and unique solutions with my clients.
I developed many of my specialties through life experience and have added formal training. I've worked in residential and outpatient substance use treatment and community mental health with a wide variety of clients.
I have taken what I've learned from my own relationship, added client experiences with couples therapy training, and developed an expertise in relationship and couples therapy. Young couples appreciate my perspective and couples in long-term relationships appreciate working with a therapist with life experiences similar to theirs.
When your relationship is going through something, it's nice to work with a therapist who can hold hope and see your strengths when you are unsure. You can trust that I will believe in your relationship and be committed to sticking with both of you to find solutions that meet your needs.
"You'll never be dismissed for your pain. You'll never be judged for the medications you take. I'll never ask you to do anything you don't want to do. You are the decision maker, not me."
I am particularly interested in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I believe in tailoring our time together to meet your specific needs — each client is unique. My therapeutic approaches include:
My passion is working with marginalized populations. I want to support you when others don't seem to understand. Together, we can think outside the box and find solutions that will make your life better.
I work with children (ages 6+), preteens, teens, adults, and elders — as individuals, couples, and families. I also speak Spanish and am neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC affirmative.
