Joy Todd is a Doctor of Behavioral Health and Licensed Professional Counselor with deep specialization in childhood trauma, complex PTSD, and medical trauma. As a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and Relational Body Work and Somatic Education Practitioner (BASE-P), Joy brings a sophisticated, body-first lens to trauma recovery — one that works at the level of the nervous system, not just the narrative.
Joy's therapeutic approach is warm and supportive, and she is known for being direct. Her work at RBG Counseling and Consulting is client-centered, trauma-informed, and deeply mind-body oriented — focused on providing symptom relief while helping clients reconnect with the resilience their nervous systems already hold. She has advanced training in dissociation, Ericksonian Hypnosis, and Integrative Medicine for Mental Health under Leslie Korn.
"Healing doesn't happen only in the mind — it happens in the body, in the breath, in the nervous system learning that it's safe again."
Joy works with clients who carry histories of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, helping them move from survival mode into genuine healing through a combination of Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and integrative body-based approaches. She is also trained in sandplay therapy and holds the Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTS) credential.
Joy sees clients in person at her Goodyear office on Tuesdays through Fridays, and is available via telehealth for clients throughout Arizona and Wisconsin. She is currently booked but has openings every couple of months — particularly for clients seeking a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.
