Jessica Zucker is an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist based in Manhattan Beach, California, specializing in perinatal mental health and couples therapy. She works with women of all ages — from those figuring out and managing cycle issues, to individuals struggling with infertility and family planning, all the way through postpartum and early parenthood. She also works with older parents navigating the unique challenges of later-in-life parenting.
For couples, Jessica focuses on relationship work that helps improve trust, emotional safety, and the creation of shared aspirations. She finds that giving tools to change communication tends to be a very productive foundation to build from, helping partners shift from an "us vs. each other" mindset to an "us vs. the problem" approach.
Jessica approaches therapy from a holistic perspective, believing that mental health doesn't exist in a vacuum. Her first few sessions with new clients are comprehensive, as she finds it essential to understand all facets of a client's life in order to truly individualize a care plan. She pulls from a variety of therapeutic modalities, first aiming to build a trusting relationship and then alternating between work that's guided and collaborative.
"I don't use a cookie cutter approach. I believe it's essential to understand the person sitting across from me as a whole, not just a diagnosis."
Jessica intentionally presents herself as much of a blank canvas as possible, so that her clients never have to worry about her perspective or feel judged — they can show up however they want. She has studied psychology for over a decade and finds therapy to be life-changing, having witnessed first-hand the positive changes that come from the work of self-assessment and reflection.
She is Gottman Level 1 trained for couples work, holds a specialization certification in women's mental health, and has completed multiple perinatal trainings. She is committed to staying up to date on the latest literature and research, and never stops learning.
Jessica has lived in California almost her entire life. She loves connecting with people and hearing their stories, believes comparison is the thief of joy, and strives to leave things better than she found them. And yes — she always wants to see the picture of your pet.
