Grant Pooley is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist who brings a rare combination of lived experience and clinical expertise to his work. Before becoming a therapist, Grant spent six years as a Scottsdale Police officer — a background that deeply informs his understanding of trauma, stress, and the unique mental health challenges facing first responders and their families.
He specializes in trauma and PTSD, couples and marital therapy, and working with young adults navigating major life transitions. Grant also works with individuals and couples facing infertility and family planning challenges — a population that is often underserved in the mental health space.
"I bring a peaceful, compassionate, and direct approach to therapy — creating a space where you can be honest about what's happening and actually start to move through it."
Grant is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and offers EMDR Intensives for clients seeking accelerated trauma processing. He also draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Solution-Focused Therapy, tailoring his approach to meet each client where they are.
Outside the therapy room, Grant enjoys golf, fitness, fantasy literature, and time with his family. He sees clients in person at Thrive Therapy's Glendale and Phoenix locations, and virtually throughout Arizona.
