Dr. Zoe Folts is a Doctor of Behavioral Health with decades of experience spanning couples therapy, college student mental health, women's health, and multicultural clinical care. Her practice draws on deep specialized training across three major couples modalities — Gottman Method (Levels 1–3), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Harville Hendrix's Imago Therapy — giving her a broad and integrative lens for helping couples at every stage, from dating through long-term partnership.
For over 20 years, Dr. Folts conducted premarital assessments for couples preparing to marry within the Catholic faith, developing a rare depth of expertise in the intersection of commitment, values, and relationship readiness. She spent many of those same years at the ASU Counseling Center, where she worked closely with college-age students navigating identity, transition, and mental health — and served as head of the Diversity Committee, shaping the center's approach to culturally responsive care.
"Every person carries a cultural story. Good therapy starts by honoring that story before anything else."
Dr. Folts completed her doctoral dissertation on chronic illness, depression, and anxiety in women — an area she continues to specialize in today. Her graduate research in Social Work focused on culturally responsive practice across Hispanic, Native American, African American, and Asian communities, informing a clinical approach that is genuinely attuned to the lived experiences of diverse populations.
Dr. Folts currently sees clients virtually throughout Arizona and accepts most major insurance plans as well as a sliding cash fee scale.
