Abby Hauer is a Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Resilient Roots Counseling, LLC, located in McCormick Ranch (North Scottsdale). She specializes in OCD — particularly in clients where neurodivergence intersects with obsessive-compulsive presentations. Her work is attuned to the unique challenges that arise when ADHD, autism, or other neurodivergent profiles co-occur with OCD, and she brings focused training to navigate these overlapping presentations with precision and care.
Abby is certified through the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) of the International OCD Foundation — a rigorous, internationally recognized pathway for OCD specialists. Her therapeutic toolkit includes ERP, iCBT, DBT, ACT, IFS, and Prolonged Exposure, all delivered through a consistently trauma-informed lens. She is also trained in Polyvagal Theory, which informs her approach to nervous system regulation and the cultivation of safety within the therapeutic relationship.
"Trauma can make OCD stickier, and the road to recovery a bit longer — but understanding that overlap changes everything about how we approach treatment."
A central focus of Abby's practice is the relationship between trauma and OCD. She recognizes that unresolved trauma can complicate OCD treatment and slow recovery — and she is skilled in addressing both simultaneously rather than sequentially. Her clients benefit from her ability to hold the complexity of these co-occurring experiences while maintaining a clear, evidence-based treatment direction.
Abby sees clients in person at her Scottsdale office and via telehealth across Arizona. She is currently accepting new clients and offers both individual sessions and a straightforward private-pay model with superbills provided for potential insurance reimbursement.
